Call for Papers: Blockchain for Wireless Networking

EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking welcomes submissions to the special issue on 'Blockchain for Wireless Networking'.

Future wireless networks, especially 5G network, should be intelligent enough to adapt to highly dynamic topologies, intensive computation and storage applications, and diverse QoS requirements for ultra-high efficiency and resiliency purposes. It is envisioned that blockchain technology will take a crucial position for the successful development of future wireless networks. In particular, future wireless networks encounter fundamental challenges from resource-constrained devices to radio resource management and the underlying heterogeneous networking and computing infrastructures. To tackle these challenges, utilizing blockchain for wireless networks may achieve an essential breakthrough in terms of seamless interoperability, low cost, high security and privacy preservation, and increased efficiency. Since blockchain technology employs a distributed ledger to offer secure services without a third party, it has a high potential to offer an underlying secure and transparent networking foundation for wireless networks, especially 5G network. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission, U.S.) also believes that blockchain will be a key technology for dynamic spectrum sharing in 6G. The scope of this Special Issue (SI) is to present and highlight the advances of the latest implementations and applications in the field of blockchain for wireless networks such that the theoretical and practical frontiers can be moved forward for a deeper understanding from both academic and industrial viewpoints.

Potential topics include but are not limited to:

  • Blockchain oriented wireless networks infrastructure
  • High-throughput blockchain architecture with AI for wireless networks
  • Low-latency blockchain architecture for wireless networks
  • New consensus protocols for wireless networks
  • Scalable services for blockchain enabled wireless networks
  • Security and privacy in blockchain enabled wireless networks
  • Mobile edge computing for Blockchain empowered wireless networks
  • Blockchain and AI for dynamic spectrum sharing in wireless networks
  • Blockchain based secure infrastructure management for wireless networks
  • New opportunities, challenges, case studies, and applications for blockchain in wireless networks
